Inspirations: Inhabitants of the Waste

(None of these images by me.  All used without permission for fun/illustrative purposes only.  Holler at me if you want them taken down.)

Who braves the waste?  Book of Eli-esque religious nuts.  The Road-esque families/non-naive children.  Cloud Atlas-esque naive children.  Who else?  After time, the waste is not compared to non-waste; the waste is all that is.  The human mentis adjusts.  The socius reforms, adjusted, altered, diminished and made cruel by the irradiated sands (and gigantic eyeless dinosaurs).  The hierarchies of old have their analogs in the silt-towns, fungal villages, and great half-necrotized technopolises of the various post-Tephnian Palan cultures.  Here are some random images I’ve been looking at while refining the setting’s inhabitants.
